Styling over the knee socks.

It's winter!!!! Winter is honestly one of my favorite seasons especially because i'm a big fan of layering!! Winter is the perfect season for that and the possibilities for your outfit are endless! If you're creative enough ,you can wear all your favorite pieces at the same time too! I have been wanting to get these over the knee socks since ages and I finally bought a set of two from my all time favourite store FOREVER21!!! And what better time to wear them than now! I'm not a huge fan of jeans during winters. They aren't exactly warm and wearing anything extra under or over them generally gets super stuffy. I would rather wear shorts and dresses and a zillion layers of stockings and tights. They look super cute and you can layer them till you feel warm enough.
So, I decided to style my lovely over the knee socks in three ways. This was pretty challenging for me as this is the first time i'm actually trying them out!!

LOOK 1: WITH SHORTS:

This one is pretty common and one of my favourite looks! For this look I kept it pretty simple! Just a pair of shorts and a sweater with an attached collar and sleeves! I absolutely love the floral print on the sweater!!It's so cute and cozy!!! I kept the accessories to a minimum with these spike danglers and I paired my lovely over the knee socks with these mazing pair of boots that i bought from China!! They are one of the best things i've ever invested in and I got them at a super cheap price! I finished the look off with this messy top knot to really show off the earrings:D Perfect everyday look with a hint of edginess!!

SWEATER - YISHION
OVER-THE-KNEE SOCKS - FOREVER21
BOOTS - FLEA MARKET IN CHINA

LOOK 2- WITH HIGH KNEE BOOTS:

I love boooooots!! So obviously these high ones had to be included!!!The nautical shirt is a classic and I decided to pair that with this red skirt! I'm not much of a skirt person but this skirt has such a cute cut that I couldn't resist.!! I finished off the look with this gorgeous belt that I recently bought and this statement necklace which i've been dying to wear!! The black over the knee socks are not fully visible but just peek out of the boots :)I love!!! You can also wear stockings with this and wear the socks over that .:) To finish off the look I threw on a leather jacket and some pearl drop earrings and I was good to go! I think this look would work well for semi-formal as well as informal occasions. Perfect for a brunch!!:)

LOOK 3 :WITH A SHORT SKIRT

The short skirt and over the knee socks is a classic look!! For this look , I decided to pair this super cute crop top with this high waisted black skirt. If you look closely the skirt has an embossed design on it which I love. I kept the accessories to a minimum because I think the look is self sustaining. I opted for the bold red lips look and paired this look with these black over the knee socks and these gorgeous snake skin print heels that I bought long ago!:) Perfect party look or maybe work ??

Save money this December.

It's the beginning of a new month! One of my favorite. I just love the winters! That feeling of snuggling in your blanket and wearing bundles and bundles of clothes. All the hot chocolate and soup .The baggy sweaters, the Christmas lights , the sales and gifts.Pretending to be a smoke breathing dragon. Its all just so awesome!
It isn't really cold here in Bangalore but i'm gonna be in Delhi for the better half of winters! Can't wait! Last month was hectic and busy and I ended up spending a lot of money and was so so broke by the 26th that I had only 400 bucks left in my account. I was a little proud of myself though, some of friends has 10Rs and what not. Luckily I write a very detailed diary and was able to figure out where all the extra expenditure happened and how I could save money this month. I need to save to be able to shop all the amazing Christmas sales!!!:D. So, read on for tips on saving money this December!

1. Carry a water bottle : Now, this may seem like a silly thing but trust me its not. We cannot live without water. The average cost for a bottle of clean drinking water is 20 rs. You'll end up buying an average of two of these a day . That's 1200 per month. There goes two pairs of jeans from forever 21. Apart from saving money , keeping yourself hydrated is very important for your body. Drinking clean water is a must.

2.Eat Vegetables : Many people think that vegetables cost a lot of money. With the exception of onions, that is not true. The key here is to buy vegetables that are in season. Seasonal vegetables are generally cheap since its available in abundance. It also has less pesticides etc and is a healthier option. Vegetables also fill you up faster and provide you with a lot of nutrients and energy. It can also do wonders for you hair and skin.

3.Eat breakfast: Yes. You've heard this one a zillion times but never really bothered to implement it. Eating breakfast is good because it fills you up and gives you the energy to do your day to day activities. Eating breakfast will prevent you from mindless munching leading up to lunch, thus saving a little bit of your cash. You'll also avoid eating unhealthy stuff.

4.Eat in your canteen: If you live in the college hostel then your fee probably covers up your mess bill. The food may not be as appealing but its cheap and healthier too. Also college canteens sell food at  very reasonable prices as they are made to cater to our needs. The difference in price will almost be half as compared to food in restaurants,  so try eating in your college canteen as much you can . If you absolutely cannot stand your canteen food then search for areas near you college that are highly populated by college students and is full of pgs and hostels..The restaurants in such areas are pretty cheap and serve good food as most of their income is generated by college students.

5. Shop online: Online shopping is one of the best things to ever happen to mankind. Its convenient, there's a lot of variety and it's cheaper than showrooms! most websites offer some sort of deals and there's always a sale on a lot of items. Websites like coupoundunia etc can also get you great deals. Like this isn't enough, you can actually earn while shopping online! Visit bonusbay.in and earn while you shop!

6.Write it down: I know I know. So much effort. But trust me if you actually write down where you're spending and how much you're spending ,you'll be able to manage your expenses way better and have enough to go to those parties and buy that Zara bag you wanted!

7.Use buses: I deliberately did not say public transport because lets face it, autos cost a bomb. Buses are cheap ,well connected and convenient. In places like Delhi, the metro is obviously an excellent option.Sadly Bangalore's metro connectivity is pretty horrible . The buses though, are very well connected , cheap and are super convenient. Taking a bus to the airport instead of a cab will save you 800Rs!! But leave well in time, the traffic is horrible! Also, try walking whenever possible.

8. Don't keep too much money in your wallet at a time. When you have money ,you are bound to unnecessarily spend it. Having about 300-500 Rs in your wallet at a time is good enough.

So these are the few changes that I made in order to save money! Im saving up so I can shop all the sales during Christmas. My main expenses were food and shopping so ya. Obviously these tips may not suit you all as everyone has different priorities, lifestyles and interests .Let me know in the comments below what you do to save money!!:D happy happy December you'll!!!

Until next time,
Ruhani.

Caring for your pets during Diwali.

It's that time of the year again when all the lights ,sweets and crackers come out. There maybe so many of us celebrating  a green and clean Diwali, but the bursting of crackers during this time in inevitable. Sure, we wish could get everyone to understand how harmful it is but there's another group of the animal kingdom that's affected way more than us. Yep ,its the pooches.Diwali is a traumatic experience for dogs as their hearing senses are much sharper than ours. All the bright lights and noise confuse them and leaves them terrified.Imagine hearing the already super loud boom of a bomb ten times louder . I have 5 toy poodles and they are already terrified because of the pre -diwali celebration bursting. So, here are some things I found to be effective in calming them down.

1. Shut all windows and doors in the house in order to reduce the amount of noise. Keep them in a room as far away from all the hustle bustle as possible.

2. Keep plenty of water and treats around . Food can be a good distraction.

3. Pamper and cuddle them as much as you can . Many of us would probably be busy attending to guests,so make sure you leave them with someone they are familiar with. Cuddling and petting them can really calm them down a lot . But make sure it's someone who's familiar to them so they feel safe and protected.

4.You could play some music in the room you keep them in so it blocks out the sound of the crackers ,but like I said ,they have very sharp hearing.

5. Avoid taking your pet out for a walk in the evening and night. Early morning is probably the best time.

6. If you take your pet out for a walk, make sure he/she has a proper  tag with your information in case something goes wrong. Also, ensure you carry a strong leash. Dogs are pretty powerful and when frightened they tend to go hulk mode.

7. Try sticking to diyas ,sparklers ,lamps and lights .

So these are my dogs! The one on the left is Rotor, the eldest, hes 19. Then there's lira, she's 4,the two on the right are her pups,Yahoo and Nunu. and the one in the middle is Happy! He's a tea cup poodle:D

Not only dogs ,all animals are afraid of crackers. Atleast we can take some measures to make it less traumatizing for our pets .Imagine the plight of the stray animals , there's no one to care for them. So,this Diwali ,I urge all of you to avoid bursting crackers as much as you can. Apart from traumatizing animals , they are also very harmful to us. They cause noise pollution , air pollution , water pollution and can have a very bad effect on our respiratory system. Crackers are not very safe either . Spend Diwali re connecting with old friends, exchanging gifts and devouring yummy barfis and kaju katlis.I know its tempting, but its not difficult. Try convincing other people also to avoid crackers and enjoy a safe fun and clean Diwali now on:)

Nothin' But a Good Time.// OUTFIT

So, the past two weeks have been super hectic and super fun. I'm finally home after 5 long months!! Yeayiee!! Was so busy with exams that I didn't get time to do anything but study! And after many unsuccessful plans, my bestie finally came to Delhi with me! Her stay was short but it was better than her not being here at all. So I spent the first five days of my holidays having the time of my life (totally needed it).  So,if you want to know how we tried to cram the entire 'dilli waala' experience within those 5 days ...read on!!:D

DAY 1

Well,we caught an early morning flight from Bangalore to Delhi (which by the way , is a 3 hour journey *ugh*) so, by the time we reached we were pretty exhausted. We were asleep almost the entire day and went out for dinner at night .

DAY 2

Both of us are major shopping addicts . So obviously the first thing we did was head out to the famed Sarojini Nagar market! I went there after almost 4 years and I was so thrilled !! Sarojini is any shoppers paradise. You find everything in that market , right from clothes to furniture. It's up to date with the latest trends and they are available at the best prices. And the best part is the bargaining !! The satisfaction you get out of getting a killer item at a cheap price is one of the best feelings in the world!! The market is located close to AIIMS and South campus .Almost all DTC buses ply on the sarojini route. The nearest metro station is INA.Also, the stuff is sarojini keeps changing, and it changes on a weekly basis . So, if you find something that you really like just buy it because you can never find the same thing twice in Sarojini.

I didn't buy much considering my mom recently bought me a whole new wardrobe from Prague! But my friend went crazy! She couldn't believe it was possible to buy such amazing stuff at such low prices!

This is the look i put together!
Oversize neon shirt-thrifted
Shorts-thrifted
Necklace-thrifted
Flats-thrifted.

That's my bestie!!Her name is Vishnu and she's awesome! She's wearing a top and necklace that iv'e used in a previous post!

So, that's Happy! He's a toy poodle and he loves eating everyones shoes. I have five toy poodles and I absolutely love and adore them! The lighter one is Yahoo and he expresses his feelings through peeing.

I tried my best to resist buying all the amazing things I saw there  but I just couldn't help myself!!So, I picked up some stuff that I knew would cost me a bomb elsewhere!

Sarojini goodies!!:D

I had been hunting for a sheer black floral print top for such a long time! When I saw this,
I grabbed it without looking at the size or fit! its so difficult to find a decent floral print shirt that doesn't make you look like a curtain or bed cover!

There was something about this sweater !I love the colour! It's so cozy!

DAY 3

This was probably the most fun day out of the five. We spent a few hours in the parlor getting our hair done. Vish got these amazing red highlights and mine were suppose to be somewhat blonde , but my hair is already colored so when the two mixed it became something totally different and awesome(post coming up on that soon!). We got it done from Abdul who works in the  La Belleza salon in Gurgaon. I would recommend it to anyone who wants good service, amazing results and total satisfaction! It's located in the Arjun Marg complex in Gurgaon.
On our way back we picked up two of our friend's and headed for the most amazing night ever!
My mom and her friend decided to take us out for dinner to Cyber Hub! If your'e not from Gurgaon ,then you should know that, cyber hub is the most happening place around . If you're from Gurgaon, you can take the rapid metro to cyber hub. If you're coming from Delhi , you can get off at either Sikandarpur or Huda city center and then take the rapid metro to cyber hub. Honestly, it seemed like a posh version of Hauz Khas to me. The best of restaurants and pubs are located here. Maybe it was the company that I had ,but there was just something about the place. It had a very youthful and fun vibe to it and the way it is designed is brilliant. We roamed around for a while and then headed to SOI7. The DJ was super boring and the place was super tiny.We got out of there as quickly as we could. After trying to decide where to go , we finally entered Imperfecto..and the night was anything but imperfect. The crowd there was amazing and buzzing with energy and the DJ was whipping out one good tune after another. The waiters were super friendly and were enjoying with the crowd but were also ensuring no one misbehaved. I think we danced for 4 hours straight without even realizing how badly our feet were hurting! If your're in Gurgaon, its a must visit!

The MOMS.

I teamed this skirt with a shirt I bought from sarojini.

DAY 4

Delhi is home to some of the most beautiful , popular and historically rich structures and no trip to Delhi is complete without visiting at least some of them. Though we planned on waking up early , all the dancing the previous night didn't permit us to do so. We originally planned on visiting the Qutab Minar, Hauz Khas fort ,India Gate and Agarsen Ki Baoli, but had time only for Qutab Minar and India Gate since we made a pit stop at the DLF mall in Saket and our madam Vishnu spent nearly 2 hours in Forever 21.

Qutab minar was very well maintained and clean except for the surprising number of plastic bottles in the well. The minar is humongous with intricate work on it. We had to try so many angles before we could entirely fit it in the frame. Of course, there's also the iron pillar which is a single mass and has been rust free since ages.It was pretty crowded and there very various groups of tourists hanging around. The broken pillars and buildings in between were so pretty with detailed work on them.

We also visited the Mehrauli Archaeological Park in hopes of seeing a lot of baolis, but we got lost in between. The area is so vast and everything is so scattered , it's hard to keep track of which direction your'e going in. also, it was very creepy and deserted and there were couples here and there romancing away to glory. So we cut short our visit and headed for lunch to Saket.

India gate was super crowded!! And there was so much street food on the way that we ended up eating even though we didn't want to.Bhel puri, papad, golgappa, icecream, cotton candy and sweet potatoe were in abundance. We walked the entire stretch from central secretariat to India Gate and also got to witness the President crossing the road with his army of vehicles.Sadly, we didn't get a chance to see the Amar Jawan Jyoti and pay our respects to those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.By the time I got home , I couldn't feel my legs.

I finally got to try the denim on denim trend! I had been hunting for an over sized denim shirt in a light shade! finally found it in sarojini!

Thrifted necklace.

I love love love these shorts! They have everything that makes for a perfect pair of denim shorts! They are frayed, ripped, the perfect length and have an amazing fit!! And the colourful print adds so much fun to them! My mom bought these for me from Prague!

Thrifted from Prague! I'm obsessed with these! They go so well with everything!

I used this orange bag to add a pop of colour to my otherwise very dull outfit. I was wearing very light shades and this bag added the much needed quirk! Picked it up from Sarojini market.

Qutab Minar!!

Iron pillar!

The photos off but the India gate is visible.

DAY 5

Well , I think I got over excited and exhausted myself. I fell sick just the day before my friend was going to leave and didn't have the strength to go anywhere. She went to sarojini with my mom and shopped some more while  I slept at home.

All in all,all of us had an amazing time! Maithili (the other girl in the denim shirt) was our official guide in Delhi along with Nimisha (the fair ,cute, curly hair one) and took more than half the photos in this post. Being history students they made sure we knew everything about the places we visited.
