T-Shirt Reconstruction 2: DIY Caged Back Shirt

Hello all!

I know it's been forever since I've posted! If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that I've been super busy studying and filling out a zillion application forms for my commercial pilot training course and hence could not post.

Anyway, i'm just going to get straight to the post !

We all know that cut out shirts are amongst the biggest trends this summer but like any trending style, they cost a bomb. So let me show you how to make this super cool caged back shirt at home.

Things you'll need:

1. An old t-shirt
2. A pair of scissors
3. Chalk or a marker of some sort

1. Start off by laying your shirt out on a flat surface and cutting out the sleeves, neck and bottom hem.

It should now look something like this:

(You can skip this step if you don't want a tank top styled shirt.)

2. Give the areas you've cut a nice stretch to give it a smoother finish.

3. Turn your shirt inside out and draw a line down the center of the shirt and draw whatever shape you want around it. I had initially decided on a heart but as you can see I ended up making more of a caged design.(you can do this with the right side facing you too but i'm turning it inside out because my drawing skills are horrible and I don't want the chalk marks to show)

4. Now draw horizontal lines across each side from the outline to the line that you've drawn down the center of the shirt. Make sure to not draw the line all the way to the center line though, leave a little bit of space the way I did. I've cut one side to demonstrate that .

5. Now just cut along these line on both side but just keep in mind to not cut all the way to the line in the middle.it should now look something like this.

6. Now turn the shirt back to it's right side out (unlike what I did ) and give every individual strip a good tug to give it a smoother look and viola you're all done!

You can either do this at the back or front of your shirt depending on your personal taste. You can style this by layering a lace bralette under it, a neon slip or just wear it without anything underneath! I know a lot of girls will want to know what type of bra to wear with tops like this , so if you plan on not layering it with a slip or bralette then I would recommend wearing a bra with a low back  if the cut out shape isn't too low, otherwise a stick on bra would be your best friend.

Here's how I styled my caged back shirt:

LOOK 1:

I think this look would be perfect for a brunch date! Decided to keep the accessories to a minimum because i think the shorts are bold enough!

 LOOK 2:

Layered a neon pink tube top under shirt and added some gold jewelry here and there to finish it off.

LOOK 3:

Kept the look as casual as I possibly could! Layered a lace bralette under the shirt, wore this Snob shop necklace as a thigh chain and finished the look off with these amazing Nike sneakers!

Hope you enjoyed this post! It's a super duper easy DIY that all of us are capable of doing and it looks super stylish! If you decide to try it ,do tag me on Instagram @ruhanidogra and on FB @theneverlandchronicles.

BECAUSE DENIM IS BAE.

Hello all!
This post is sort of a continuation of the previous post because this also focuses on denim. I'm honestly a huge fan of anything denim. It's versatile, breathable and it looks good . It can be a little expensive, but if you shop from the right places,it doesn't have to burn a hole in your pocket. I think a denim shirt is a wardrobe staple. I'm more inclined towards lighter shades but denim looks good no matter the color. So I decided to take this one denim shirt I have and wear it in how many ever ways I possibly could. You've already seen the denim on denim look which is honestly my favorite ever and is also in vogue this season! There are honestly so many ways you can wear a denim shirt in but these are my favorite.

1. Denim X Leather :

First of all, I want to say that this is a faux-leather skirt. This may seem a little bothersome considering summer and leather aren't exactly a match made in heaven , but this pleated skater skirt is honestly the best thing ever.Since it's not real leather, its much lighter, way easier to maintain and doesn't cling on to you in case you get sweaty. Because of it's shape you can barely even feel it and it's super airy. I got this skirt from Forever 21 when they were having a sale and it cost me about 600 INR. I really like it because the color is very basic and I love the pleat details that it has. It's also a high waist skirt which is definitely a plus for me.Since the shirt and the skirt are on the lighter side of the color scale, I decided to add a pop of blue with these gorgeous barely-there heels that I stole from my mom.I added these pearl drop earrings to keep the look classy.

 2. Denim X White :

You cannot go wrong with this combination even if you try! Since it's summer, white is the perfect color to wear. This is my personal favorite look because it's so effortless! Since both colours are light, it's totally summer friendly! You can add any color of shoes and accessorize it however you want since the look is pretty plain. I layered two necklaces, added a few gold colored bangles and wore these super cute neon pink heart earrings with this since I wanted this to be a very casual, everyday look. I went for these jelly shoes and added this super cute floral backpack that I got from cupcakesandclosets for just 500INR! I think it adds a very funky element to the entire look and its super spacious and trendy!

3.Layering :

If you follow me on Instagram ,by now you should know that I am obsessed with layering things. Be it clothes or accessories, I think it's a very nice way to wear all your favorite things at once and also make an otherwise boring thing super funky and interesting. You can experiment with patterns and sizes and you'll almost always end up with something amazing.
I'm a huge fan of denim jackets ,but they are obviously too thick to wear during the summer. So I decided to pair this super cute bird print romper with the denim shirt, using it as a over-sized shrug kind of thing. I also added a belt to the romper because I felt it looked a little too plain. I finished the look off by adding a long imitation ivory necklace,an over-sized watch and boots! Now, many people think that boots are only meant for winters, but I think it really depends on the type of boots you're going to wear and how comfortable you feel in them . I also think that if you balance your outfit out, you won't feel hot wearing boots.

DENIM DELUXE

"I have often said that I wish I had invented blue

jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the

most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression,

modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my

 clothes."

-YSL

Hello all!!
So I guess it's pretty obvious from the title that today's post is all about the denim, the denim ,the denim*sings it Meghan Trainor style*!! The denim fabric has been around for so long , i'm not sure if I should even call it a summer trend. It's in trend 365 days a year, decade after decade. But, this season is different. This season is special for it. Why? Because on 20th May, the blue jeans will complete 140 years of existence!! Whattt? Yep, that's how long it's been around for. From dungarees to flare pants to boot-cuts to straight cut to the skinny jeans , I think it's come a long long way.

A good fitting pair of jeans can honestly make all the difference in the world but is so difficult to find. If it fits the waist well, it's too loose around the thighs, if it fits well around the things , it's too tight around the hips, if the waist, thighs and hips are good, the length is too long. What sorcery is this?! I did manage to find a perfect fitting pair a couple of years back in a Levis store,(I really like the whole curve id concept) but sadly I overused them and they now live on borrowed time. The color literally faded from black into this charcoal like color and its ripped at various places which is actually cool because ripped jeans are so in right now, but they are starting to loose their shape. I don't blame them though, it's been nearly 5-6 years. I'm still in search of the next perfect one for me. Wish me luck finding it.

So in honor of the  birthday of the blue jeans , I decided to OD on denim a little and styled a denim on denim outfit which i've been wanting to try for a very long time! Also known as double denim or denim deluxe, this trend was super popular in the 80's and early 90's and it is back in fashion this season. With the likes of stars like Miranda Kerr, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Alessandra Ambrosio and Kendall Jenner, to name a few, donning it numerous times, I think it's safe to say denim on denim is here to stay(unintentional rhyming).

Denim on denim can actually be pretty tricky to pull off. The best thing is to create a contrast, pairing a dark shade with a light shade is definitely your best bet. You can add some jewelry or a scarf or a pair of quirky heels to break the monotony of the denim if you want. I went with this really pretty multicolored necklace that I got a long time ago. I feel it complements the denim shirt very well. I added a hand cuff  too. I decided on cheetah print heels for this look because these particular pair have a very soft tone of this print on them , they also have a gold lining and I think gold and denim always looks very good. I finished the look off by adding this beautiful clutch which I borrowed from my mom. I'm not much of a clutch person , I find it kind of inconvenient , but I think it worked well for this particular look:)
